From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Fairchild-Republic A-10 Thunderbolt II is a single-seat, twin-engine jet aircraft designed to provide close air support (CAS) of ground forces by attacking tanks, armored vehicles, and other ground targets. As a secondary mission, it provides airborne forward air control, guiding other attack aircraft against ground targets. It is the first US Air Force aircraft designed exclusively for close air support (CAS) of ground forces. The official nickname comes from the P-47 Thunderbolt of World War II, a plane that was particularly effective at the CAS mission. However, the A-10 is more commonly known as Warthog or simply Hog. In the USAF inventory, the same airframe is also designated OA-10 when used primarily in a forward air control role.

ALL-NEW AND NOT AVAILABLE ANYWHERE ELSE: The AIR SUPERIORITY SERIES AH-64D Longbow Apache and AH-1W Cobra desktop model helicopters display! You get two modern attack desktop model helicopters for the price of one regular desktop model display. This collectible presents the famous Apache, handcarved from mahogany wood and handpainted in Olive Drab Operation Iraqi Freedom/OIF scheme, vis-a-vis a handcarved, handpainted, USMC “Whiskey” Cobra. Measuring approximately only 13 inches at its widest, this display is a fitting honor to those who continue to serve in the defense of our Freedom, and that of other nations.
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Bell AH-1W
The Bell AH-1 Cobra is an attack helicopter. It shares a common engine, transmission and rotor system with the older UH-1 “Huey”. It is variously called the “HueyCobra,” “SeaCobra,” “SuperCobra,” “Whiskey Cobra,” “Zulu Cobra,” “Viper,” or “Snake”; depending on the model.
The AH-1 was once the backbone of the United States Army’s attack helicopter fleet, but has been replaced by the AH-64 Apache in Army service. Upgraded versions continue to fly with the United States Marine Corps (AH-1W) and several other users.
AH-64 Apache
The AH-64 Apache is the United States Army’s principal attack helicopter, and is the successor to the AH-1 Cobra. It was designed by Hughes, further developed by McDonnell Douglas and is currently produced by Boeing.
The AH-64 is a two-seat attack helicopter powered by two General Electric T700 turbo-shaft engines. The crew sit in tandem, with the pilot sitting behind and above the copilot-gunner in an armored crew compartment. The helicopter is armed with a 30mm M230 chain gun and carries a mixture of missiles and rockets on its stub-wing pylons.
Built to endure front-line environments, it can operate during the day or night and in adverse weather using the integrated helmet and display sight system. The Apache is also equipped with some of the latest avionics and electronics, such as the Target Acquisition and Designation System, Pilot Night Vision System (TADS/PNVS), passive infrared countermeasures and GPS.

The US Navy used the Skyraider until April 1968, completing over 100,000 missions over Vietnam. Surplus Skyraiders were later turned over to the South Vietnamese Air Force (VNAF). The Skyraider is still used by the US Air Force for rescue operations.

The Boeing F/A-18E/F Super Hornet is a supersonic carrier-based fighter/attack aircraft. The F/A-18E/F Super Hornet is a larger and more advanced derivative of the F/A-18C/D Hornet. Now made available in our New Collectors Series Model Planes, Handcrafted by Mastercraft.
The Super Hornet entered service with the United States Navy in 1999 and will serve a complimentary to the original Hornet. It has been ordered by the Royal Australian Air Force in 2007 to replace its aging F-111 fleet.
The Super Hornet is a larger and more advanced variant on the F/A-18C/D Hornet. An early version was marketed by McDonnell Douglas as Hornet 2000 in the 1980s. The Hornet 2000 concept was an advanced version of the F/A-18 with a larger wing, longer fuselage to carry more fuel and more powerful engines.
The early 1990s brought a number of problems for US naval aviation. The A-12 Avenger II program, intended to replace the obsolete A-6 Intruders and A-7 Corsair IIs, had run into serious problems and was canceled. The Gulf War revealed that the US Navy’s strike capability lagged behind that of the U.S. Air Force in certain respects.
With no clean-sheet program likely to produce results before about 2020, updating an existing design became an attractive approach. As an alternative to the A-12, McDonnell Douglas proposed the “Super Hornet” (or, initially, “Hornet II”), originally put forward in the 1980s to improve early F/A-18 models,[3] and serve as an alternate replacement for the A-6 Intruder which had a greater range / payload than the A-7 Corsair that the original Hornet was designed to replace. At the same time, the Navy needed a fleet defense fighter to replace the canceled NATF, which was a proposed navalized variant of the F-22 Raptor.
The Super Hornet was first ordered by the U.S. Navy in 1992. The Navy would also direct that this fighter replace the aging F-14D Tomcat, essentially basing all naval combat jets on Hornet variants until the introduction of the F-35C Lightning II.The Navy retained the F/A-18 designation to sell the program to Congress as a low-risk “derivative”, though the Super Hornet is largely a new aircraft with little more than an aerodynamic resemblance to previous Hornets. The Super Hornet did retain most of the avionic systems from the F/A-18C/D’s then current configuration.
